Dan Schwank of Red Rose Reproductions contacted Thomas Lie-Nielsen about making their range of discontinued floats. Lie-Nielsen had no plans to re-introduce them so they were supportive in helping Dan getting these back to market. They certainly match the build quality of the original floats by Lie-Nielsen.

The Red Rose Reproductions floats come in a variety of sizes for specific uses. Primarily for making wooden hand planes, but also handy for cleaning out mortices, or trimming the face of a tenon.

They come in both push and pull cutting tooth configurations, which is helpful for always cutting with the grain of the wood. Generally, push floats can be used for more aggressive cutting by using the first tooth as a scraper.

  • Pull teeth.
  • A-2 tool steel hardened to Rc50-52.
  • Hard Maple handles.
  • Use and sharpening instructions are included.
